Rethymno all year wine tour
We drive towards the mountains of Rethymno, first stop at the traditional village of Spili, where you will enjoy a Greek coffee and drink fresh spring water from the famous Venetian lion tabs. The tour continues towards Melabes village to visit the newly founded winery of Iliana Malihin. A very talented oenologist who has united many different growers from villages around Rethymno, who own ungrafted old vineyards in order to make wines from vidiano and liatiko grape varieties. Her dream is to bottle wine from each different village. You will taste 5 different wines, olive oil and Cretan tsikoudia along with local cheeses and cold cuts. The tour ends in a traditional taverna for a mezze lunch.

Itinerary
Departure
10.00 am: Departure from your hotel or central meeting point, enjoying having a certified sommelier sharing its knowledge of Crete and its wines.
First Stop for Greek Coffee
Arrival at the small village of Spili, where you will enjoy a Greek coffee slowly made on hot ash. You will have the opportunity to stroll around the village and drink fresh water from the famous Venetian lion tabs.
Second Stop - Winery Visit
Arrival at Iliana Malihin’s winery, from there you will be transferred to a 4×4 truck vehicle to visit the vineyards around Melabes. An unforgettable experience to centenarian vineyards with breathtaking view of the south Cretan sea. You will walk in the vineyards and learn by Iliana the secrets of viticulture. Then you will be driven back to the winery, where you will have the opportunity to taste wines from the tanks of the new vintage and taste 5 wines, organic olive oil and homemade “tsikoudia” accompanied with Cretan cheese, olives and homemade bread.
Lunch In a traditional taverna
Enjoy a mezze lunch in a traditional taverna in the nearby village.

Return at pick up point at around 17.00 pm
